2.4mR Racing – Toronto 2018

2.4 sailors,

Finally we have some warm weather and can think about 2.4 sailing in Toronto. See attached newsletter for the local 2.4 racing schedule and make note of some of the out-of town listed regattas as well. Print a copy and hang it on your fridge and sign up for the regattas!

The out-of-town schedule is not complete, so make sure you go to www.canada24mr.com/events  for the complete list.

May 19 – 20 Icebreaker TSCC – Toronto
June 10 NYC – Series I NYC – Toronto
June 16 – 17 Nepean One Design NSC – Nepean
July 14 – 15 National Event NYC – Toronto
July 21 NYC Series II NYC – Toronto
Aug 4 – 5 Great Lakes Regatta NYC – Toronto
Aug 10 – 12 2.4 Canadians PCYC – Pointe Claire
Sept 22 NYC Series III NYC – Toronto

A few regattas to make note of:

Icebreaker:
As in the past we will be sailing from NYC to the TSCC race course. Go to https://www.tscc.net/event-2390319 to register. Online Icebreaker registration closes on May 17.

ABYC Open:
Last month I put out an email polling for interest in an ABYC event. Unfortunately we did not get enough commitments to get a start in the ABYC Open. Maybe next year.

Nepean One Design:
In the past, this regatta has been poorly attended by NYC because of a conflicting Etchell regatta. No excuse this year. Let’s support the Nepean fleet!

National Event:
This is always a fantastic local NYC regatta and we hope to have good turn out again this year.

Great Lakes Regatta:
This is the fall 2.4 regatta that has great racing and a fleet barbecue on Saturday night. Hosted by NYC, we will have a notice of race up shortly on the NYC web site. Another reminder email will be sent to the fleet as soon as registration is open.

2.4 Canadians:
Alain Dubuc has done a wonderful job in making the Point Claire event a destination regatta that can’t be missed. See you all at the 2.4 Canadians.

NYC regatta series:
We have in the past enjoyed getting in 7-8 races a day in our NYC series one day events. We have identified 3 dates to run the series but I am always open to expand the series if we have enough interested participants. This is a fantastic time to tune up, practice starts and get in some pacing. The course is set up around 10:30 and we are usually racing by 11am.

Thursday Night Club racing:
As in the past, we will again be club racing on Thursday nights. Another email will be sent out in the next couple of weeks with a start date.

On a final note, NYC and volunteers provide us with racing, resources and fleet support. We also have an opportunity to reciprocate and I would ask that you  go to this NYC link  NYC Volunteer Form and volunteer some time to give back to other NYC fleets.

It’s been a long winter and I look forward to seeing you all on the water. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.
